In this video, the host Ane Cortzen visits the architect and partner at the studio pihlmann architects, Soeren Pihlmann at Thoravej in Copenhagen, Denmark, where the studio is transforming an old nursing home into a community center for social and artistic workspaces.
Various elements from the old structure have been saved to use in the transformation project not just because of the need to cut down emissions but also to explore new aesthetic approaches which ask the question of what the architecture of the future should look like and how the relationship between ethics and aesthetics needs to be addressed.
The community center is expected to open in 2024.
Address: Thoravej 29, 2400 Copenhagen, Denmark.
